Youth Craftsman Club

My Youth Craftsman Club is based on the Sloyd method of teaching. Students will learn to forge their own tools and then use them. Each project is built upon the previous and is designed to engage the student in a wholistic learning experience. Class sizes are limited to 7 to make sure each student has the attention they deserve. Safety in the shop is my number one priority and we stress that in each session.
What Students Will Learn With Me
This program is designed for homeschooled kids who thrive in a hands on environment. Based on the Sloyd method of learning, students make their own tools and then use them to create projects in a wide range of crafts and mediums. Sloyd is a system of handicraft-based learning developed in Finland with deep roots throughout Scandinavia. The Sloyd method helps students to learn problem solving while creating and using their own tools.

Educational Sloyd is a holistic experience. Course projects are designed to supplement everyday schoolwork and provide students an opportunity to implement their education into practical and hands on experiences. Because blacksmithing in particular is very physically strenuous, I offer a FREE first session to make sure it is the right fit for your child.
